  • Put Strawberries into food processor and blend until smooth or until the consistency you desire.
  • Mix cream cheese in bowl until smooth. To make this step easier, let sit in the bowl for about 30 minutes to an hour to soften.
  • Add strawberries, sour cream and sugar to the cream cheese and hand mix well.
  • Chill and add sprinkles on top right before serving if desired.
Note: If you puree it all, it will be smoother but on the runny side. Yes we did test both ways!

Other Variations

  • Now there is a nice variety of different flavored cream cheeses available. We like the Philadelphia Cream Cheese brand the best. You can choose from savory to sweet. The savory flavors like Chive and Onion, Garden Vegetable or Honey Butter would make a great dip for crackers. The sweet flavors like Blueberry, Pineapple, Mixed Berry, Brown Sugar and Cinnamon are great options to make a fruit dip.Kli>
  • We like the Kraft Brand marshmallow cream. I found in recipes requiring it, like my fudge recipe at Christmas that brand made a difference.
  • Some recipes omit the Cool Whip which is another option as well.
  • If you are interested in a specific color theme, use the original white cream cheese and change the color by adding a couple drops of food coloring. We like Wilton gel dyes which are very concentrated so you can have pastel to very vibrant colors. It also has a great variety of colors. You can find this usually in a box of mini tubs at stores like Michaels and on Amazon.

Helpful Tips for our Fruit Dips

How to Keep Fruit from Browning

An acidic juice like orange, lime, lemon can help prevent your sliced fruit from browning. Once your fruit has been cut, dip the slices quickly into the juice, let excess drip off and arrange them on your platter. This can really help keep your fruit looking fresh and just sliced your party.

How Much Fruit Do You Need

Since this is usually a side dish, about 1 pound of fruit for every 4 guests will be adequate.

How to Store your Fruit Dip

Keep in the refrigerator until use. Store any leftovers in an airtight container or covered in plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.

Freezing the Fruit Dip

Store the fruit dip in a freezer-safe airtight container and freeze it for up to 1 month. If you have a Fresh Saver Machine, this will help keep it even longer. Fully thaw and stir the dip well to enjoy it again. Fresh fruit doesn't freeze as well and tends to be better for smoothies.
